Different types of V Belts and Wedge Belts

There are a huge range of different V belts and wedge belts for countless drive systems. Some of the common ones are listed below.

Fan belts

Automotive fan belts are an essential component on every car. The fan belt on a car usually connects the crankshaft pulley to the alternator pulley. The power is provided by the crankshaft, which in turn rotates the alternator, which provides electrical power while the car is running and also turns the fan.

Mower belts

Ride on mowers and some smaller lawn mowers use a V belt to drive the cutting blades. This belt can suffer wear and tear, and may need to be replaced on a regular basis. If you need a new mower belt, you’ll need the part number on the existing belt to cross reference with the new belts available.

Wedge belts

General wedge belts are used on all manner of drive systems. There wedge shape makes them able to use pulley widths of around 50% less than usual, which means the drive system can be more compact.
